How do you acquire the NF mark?
The NF mark is a collective
certification mark. It provides your customers with indisputable
proof that your product or service meets their needs and complies
with the safety and/or quality characteristics
defined in the corresponding certification reference system.
This reference system comprises:
French, European or international standards,
Additional specifications relating to the product or
service and the company's quality organisation, contained
in certification rules specific to each product or service.
The certification reference systems are established in collaboration
with all the players concerned: manufacturers or service providers,
professional organisations, consumers, public authorities,
technical organisations, and so on.
1st case: there is an NF mark that is relevant
to you
Step 1- Analysing of your requirements
AFNOR Certification and the members of the NF network
analyse your requirements and send you all the information
about the NF mark that is relevant to you (general rules,
the rules relating to the mark, price terms, etc).
Step 2 - Certification request
When you have made your decision and after your request case
file has been created, we determine the practical arrangements
for your certification in conjunction with you.
Step 3 - Evaluation and decision
We perform tests on your product and also check the effectiveness
of your quality organisation (inspections and auditing). Based
on all the results, we issue the corresponding NF certificate.
Step 4 - Communication
When the NF mark is placed on your products, packages, technical
documents and sales and communication media, it enhances the
value of your investments and your commitment to quality.
Step 5 - Periodic monitoring
We perform regular monitoring in order to check, and therefore
assure your customers of, the continuing compliance of your
products and quality organisation with the requirements of
the NF mark.
2nd case: an NF mark needs to be designed to
suit you
Step 1 - Establishing of the specification and/or testing
standards
- Analysis of your needs
- Defining of the commitments and performance levels to be
achieved (certified characteristics) and of the testing arrangements
(for products).
Step 2 - Establishing of the certification reference system
- Designing of mark granting rules (inspection arrangements,
type and frequency)
- Validation by a mark committee- Approval and publication
in the Journal Officiel
